Lockdown March 2020

Lockdown March 2020

Day 1

22nd March 2020

So according to some shitty news channel, the doomsday is here, I personally feel that this is just a phase, no doubt the most difficult hurdle mankind has ever come across but this too shall pass.

Officially our so-called quarantine started from 22nd March 2020, when our prime minister Mr. Narender Modi addressed the nation and appealed everyone to stay at home on Sunday, but this was just the trailer picture toh abhi baaki thi mere dost.

I am 26 and in my life, I have never seen my city so calm n silent, it felt like I have entered a movie like 'I am Legend' or something.

Then the clock struck 5 and a miracle happened, everyone was out in their balconies applauding the efforts of the people who were still working in these tough times. Trust me it was such a beautiful experience, I felt so strong that all of us are in this together and I was sure about the fact that now we can fight any demon in this world.

It was so surreal that I got a little emotional but those emotions took away all my tensions and worries with it

Day 2

23rd March 2020

Today was not a usual Monday morning there was no hustle and bustle in the house, no one was getting late it felt like the clock had stopped working, after dogging a couple of work calls and explaining everyone what the situation was like in Delhi I started my day

During these two days, I was constantly in touch with my close friends and family and all of us had the same question 'Karna Kya hai ab 9 din?. Everyone had different plans but I was kinda sure that I will start writing during this period and here I am documenting my lockdown experience, I know for a fact that this will not be the most interesting thing to read 10 years down the lane ( if the mankind survives this ) but at least I am enjoying it right now, so who cares

Day 3

24th March 2020

Into Day 3 of lockdown, it started sinking in that we have to do this for a while now. It was a usual Tuesday morning I got up a bit late around 11 am and started the day with the newspaper but little did I know that this was the last newspaper for the month.

I was still contemplating the fact that what should I do during these days to keep myself busy, just then I got to know that our Prime Minister is addressing the nation again at 8 PM.

The clock struck 8, and there he was our prime minister announcing a countrywide lockdown for 21 days, as soon as I heard the news I was literally shattered and was just trying to make peace with the fact that we will be locked down for the next 21 days.

Before I could even settle myself my dad told me to get some stock of essential items for the house. The best part about this was I got out of the house even if it was just for minutes.

To my surprise, I did not enjoy going out because there was so much tension in the air; barricades all around the city, I came home and made a pact that for the next 21 days I will only spread positivity.

The whole night went by on the phone chit-chatting with the friend, the best part about that 2-hour long conversation was that both of us completely forgot about what's happening in the world.

P.S: Conversation with Bhjij

'Me: Bhiji Ki karaenge hun assi 21 dinne liyee?
Bhijji: Puth hass ke kad le chaye roo ke kad le , rehna tha ithhe hi hai hun'

THIS STRUCK ME HARD

Day 4

25th March 2020

Day 4 guys, by now I am getting used to the fact that I have to stay in for quite some time now, trying my level best to keep up the positivity and spread some along the way. So the day started on the same note got up at around 11 am, happily skipped the newspaper which I feel is kinda healthy for a while.

Since today was all about positivity, I started the day by cleaning my room and by cleaning I don't mean just changing the sheets I literally cleaned the room, from doors to shelves to books, photo frames, TV unit everything. Then after that, I went for a hot shower wore some nice clothes blow-dried my hair, basically did everything I could to feel better and trust me 'I FELT ON TOP OF THE WORLD' Lol.

Being on day 4, I was kinda done with Netflix and Amazon prime so I was just talking to friends and watching some vlogs/travel vlogs while having my meals.

At night I did some crazy ass workout which made me feel so much better, I was quite satisfied by the day but then it even got better we did an epic video calling session on this new app ' Houseparty' played all sorts of silly games and had a great time.

No, the night is not over yet buddy, then came to the ludo sessions and to my surprise, it was kinda fun.
So all in all it was quite a successful day

Day 5

26th March 2020

Into Day 5, now I am at a point when I can say yaar 5 din ho gaye pta hi nahi chala , lol . So the day starts a bit late same old cleaning up, roaming around and all; the best part about today was I followed my schedule again, I took a nice bath, even pampered myself with a  face scrub so I was feeling fresh as a cucumber lol.

A new practice which I started today was I made a small makeshift workplace in my back balcony, a small table a chair some nice hot coffee perfect weather, I couldn't have asked for anything better during this lockdown. I was sitting there for almost 2-3 hrs it felt like I have been teleported to the hills the sky was so mesmerizing, and clouds were making all sorts of paintings in the sky.
# 'Bhai badal toh zaruri hain '

One good thing about the lockdown is that I have started working out and since I am not moving around, I am not eating much too.

Then as the night progressed I got a house party invite from the Kolkata gang, and then the banter started which lasted till almost 3 in the morning.

So I can say it was a hell of a day, I know this is the 1st time I am saying this since the last 5 days but the fact is, one should appreciate the small wins in life, especially at this gloomy hour.

Adios, I will be back tomorrow with another story another day, till then buh byee shabaa kher, stay safe stay positive.

Day 6

27th March 2020

Day 6 fellas and the weekend is here, not that it would be any different than the other days, still, I am an excited kid. Now at least I am getting used to this lockdown and have made peace with it.

So the 1st half of the day went past in a flash some work calls and cleaning up kept me quite busy. As it was day 6, I have been following my routine religiously by now.

But there is always something interesting happening when you have a khurafati mind, so I decided I will trim my hair today, not recommended but I felt what could go wrong, and even if something did I will be back to my normal self in a span of 2 weeks.

So a couple of YouTube tutorials later, there I was in front of my mirror with scissors in my hand, let me tell what happens when you actually, start trimming your hair, you are completely clueless, trust me it is much more difficult than it looks, I somehow went with my instinct and did a pretty decent job, I was really proud of the fact that I didn't fuck up like some of my friends(One is bald now lol) and can still see myself in the mirror. All in all, I enjoyed it

The second half of the day was like every day filled with all kinds of house parties n stuff, by midnight I was craving for a nice feel-good movie and I knew the perfect movie for this scenario a masterpiece which I always wanted to watch 'Forest Gump', the crux of the movie is never lose hope, as life is all about ups and down, cherish the good times and just stay positive during the bad ones, you will surely make it through, which I am damm sure all of us will

Day 7

28th March 2020

Congratulations guys we all have made it through day 7, one week has gone by and its Saturday again, I hope all of you had made some plans for the weekend, I, fortunately, had a few but I am sure they won't work out like most weekends. So the day started with our family doctor paying a visit to bheeji , a new face after a while we all caught up and I also got to know that some kind of balcony tambola sessions were taking place in the next lane which was really fascinating, especially after that viral video, I so wished I could go there.

My day was just getting started and there I saw my friend with his car filled up with grocery paying a visit ( he has a delivery kitchen so he had a pass) after literally covering up myself with all the things I had at my disposal I went out to meet him. Since I made him feel like an untouchable the poor guy had no option but to leave.

After this, I quickly took a shower, and as it was the weekend wore a nice black t-shirt and my grey ripped jeans, some of you might think I am crazy, but I am just a regular guy who would do any fucking thing in this world to stay happy, I just don't care what people think, if it makes me happy I will do it, I am the kind of guy jo barat mein late laate ke dance karte hai, so this is nothing for me.

In the evening, I was back at my favorite spot, the clouds were wandering in all sorts of directions and the sunset was just magical, I stayed out a bit longer than usual and indulged into a stargazing session with the crescent moon being the icing on the cake.

The second part of the day went past in a flash, one to one sessions with mom, some kick-ass works, house parties and slept while watching a couple of travel vlogs.
